HDUN in organizing 10 year anniversary of UNESCO Convention for Intangible Cultural Heritage

Internal Club for Public Diplomacy HDUN has successfully completed its first project – participation in the organization of the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the meeting of the Network of inter-municipal cooperation in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage (ICCN), which was held from 2. to 6. October 2013. in Dubrovnik.

Principal organizers were Folklore Ensemble “Linđo” and the City of Dubrovnik and the event took place under the patronage of the Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, UNESCO, Croatian Ministry of Culture and the Croatian Ministry of Tourism. The events were attended by more than 20 mayors and a dozen representatives of cities, over a hundred of top experts in the field of living culture, public diplomacy and tourism as well as many young people from 40 countries from around the world. The main goal of the events was, among other things, to engage young people, to inform them and increase their interest in safeguarding of living heritage. It all ended with most spectacular largest ever Linđo on Stradun .Thanks to its 274 dancers largest Lindjo in the world is in the process of entering the Guinness Book of Records.
