Culture of Democracy – study visit in Denmark

The Danish United Nations Association in cooperation with InterCollege organized a Study visit \\\”Culture of Democracy\\\” which took place from 6 to 13 of December 2015, the first part was held in Slettestrand, and later on in Copenhagen. Participants from more than 15 countries gathered to learn from experts in a stimulating environment and exchanged with them positive practices from their countries.

Through seven days of intensive workshops, presentations and guest appearances of experts from political and civil society, the participants learned how to apply the experiences and enthroned practices from developed countries such as Denmark. Civil society is a very wide concept in the Scandinavian countries and their impact on the decision-making factors is significant.
The objective of the meeting was to promote culture of democracy through multiculturality, learning through examples of democratic and political processes and the creation of a network of contacts for future international cooperation around the world. All participants are active members of society in their countries involved in the local community and Croatia was well represented by a three-member delegation of CUNA (Croatian United Nation Association) composed by Ana Koceić, Giulian Hamitaj and Petar Gregurić.
At the closing ceremony, the delegation of each country had to present the learned practices, knowledge, ideas and activities they are planning and have the responsibility to implement in their local community. A various number of partnerships were established between organizations and their joint involvement in the organization of future projects through which they will seek to raise awareness of democratic processes and political responsibility.
Since the members of the Croatian delegation are also members of the working group of CUNA for the organization of ZAGIMUN in September this year, some of the acquired practices members of the Croatian delegation are already planning to implement into the processes in the upcoming months.
